Ants
Ants belong to the group of social insects that live together in colonies and nests.
The ant colony includes workers (females only), a limited number of sexual adults, eggs, larvae and pupae.
Ants build their nests in the ground or in dead trees. They eat all types of food and, unlike termites, do not feed on wood.
In Israel, ants are not considered pests that transmit diseases and, unlike other places in the world, they do not cause damage to property, but their mere presence in the home is a nuisance.
Termites
Termites are animals that visually resemble ants.
Termites are sensitive to sunlight and therefore live underground
(They live in communities similar to the group of social insects ants, bees, wasps)
The depth of a termite colony in the ground can reach up to five meters.
In addition, termites can live on trees above the ground. Their movement is carried out in burrows and tunnels due to their sensitivity to sunlight.
A termite colony can reach about two hundred thousand individuals (!) which are divided into four classes: adolescents, workers, soldiers and reproducers.
Since the termite's diet is components containing cellulose (wood, cardboard, paper), termites are heavy for humans. The damage caused by termites in the US alone reaches millions of dollars each year.
